Mbarara – Christians from Mbarara have been urged to condemn and shun all acts of homosexuality from spreading to their communities if they are to maintain the African cultural values and norms.
While addressing masses of Christians recently at Uganda Martyrs Church in Mbarara during the launch of fundraising towards the construction of the new church at Booma hill, Rwampara East MP Julius Tusiime Karuhaga appealed to the Christians to stand firm and fight against the evil of homosexuality.
He added that as Christians who believe in the Christ, they must come together and have a campaign to fight same sex relationships in the country.
Speaking to journalists after the fundraiser, MP Tusiime emphasized that Uganda is a country built on the foundations of Christianity and Christian values. Adding that the people of Uganda have cultures that they believe in and they abhor any foreign culture that intends to make Ugandans promote the same sex relations.
“As Christians, we have culture and norms that we believe in and we don’t understand or we abhor any foreign culture that intends or wants to make Ugandans to promote and accept the misuse of our tradition of who we are as human beings.
We believe as human beings, we must procreate, live together but there is no way we can procreate if we accept same sex marriages. There is no way we shall procreate and have future generations if we accept promotion of same sex marriage, lesbianism and homosexuals in our secondary schools.
Therefore, I stand with other Godly people, I stand with other Godly leaders who believe in Christian values that we must coexist to make sure that we procreate humans as a human generation,” Tusiime said.
MP Tusiime also appealed to Christians to ensure that they become spies of each other in fighting against corruption that has become a norm in Uganda.
He asked them to report culprits in cases related to swindling government funds, and those that interest themselves in grabbing government land.
The legislator contributed about Shs12m towards the construction of the Shs13b project of Uganda Martyrs Church Mbarara. When complete, it will be the biggest church in the Catholic church in the country.
