Three Arrested In Connection To Murder Of Teenager In Rukungiri District

Police in Rukungiri are hunting for assailants who stabbed a 15 year old girl to death and critically injured another one.

The deceased is a one Arinda Valeria Tracy a Pupil at Unity Primary school and the injured is Catherine Mercy residents of Kyebumbire cell Burombe parish Ruhinda sub-county Rukungiri district.

It’s alleged that on the night of 8th  August, 2022 at around 10pm, at Kyebumbire Cell, a one Mundekye Dafuroza left her grand children in the house revising their books.
She went to check on her sick sister in law in the neighborhood.
While still there, she heard an alarm coming from the direction of her home.

She immediately rushed there & upon her arrival she found the deceased lying outside after she had sustained a deep stab wound on the chest region and was already dead whereas the second victim was lying besides with deep cut wounds on the left arm but she revealed to the grand mother how they were attacked by thugs who attempted to steal mattresses in their house.

In so doing the deceased and the victim made an alarm hence they were stabbed by thugs and ran away an unidentified.

The survivor was rushed to a nearby clinic.

According to ASP Elly Maate; the Police Spokesperson Kigezi region, the Police was notified by Denis Tayebwa, at Ruhinda Police station and a case file No. CRB: 759/2022 was registered , and the crime scene was  visited and documented, and the body of the deceased was taken to Rwakabengo Health center III  mortuary for a postmortem.

Maate further said that the three suspects were later arrested to help the Police with investigations, and inquiries are ongoing about the incident.
