
Rwenzori Students Association clean Kabale Town to Mark Bakonzo Week

Kabale – Students from different institutions in Kabale district from the Rwenzori sub-region under their association Rwenzori United Students Association – Kabale on Thursday engaged themselves in cleaning the town as a way of celebrating Bakonzo week.
Muhindo Precious, the patron of the association told our reporter that they decided to clean the town as a way of giving back to the community members saying that they are foreigners in the district, and are happy with the way people are loving and hospitable to them.
She added that they cleaned the town in order to be recognized in the region and to prove to the public the love they have for Kigezi sub-region as people from Kasese.
Muhindo stressed that they chose the activity in order to promote sanitation in the area saying that this will reduce or stop the spread of some diseases.
She also called upon the people of Kabale and Uganda at large to desist from dumping polyethene bags and plastic materials anywhere saying that its not good for sanitation and that they lead to infertility of soils, and advised them to always dump them in dustbins or burn them to save the environment.
The chairperson of the association Kambale Joel stressed that they did the cleaning in order to have a healthy town, saying that some places were very dirty like the side of Mwanjari and this would result into outbreak of diseases like cholera, malaria among others to people. He furthe noted that they carried out the cleaning to save the community from such diseases.
He added that they cleaned the town as a way of appreciating the love of people of Kabale for not being hostile to them, saying that they have given them a favourable atmosphere to live in. He also said that they enjoy Kabale life more than in their home area of Kasese.
Sandrah Monic, a member of the association thanked the members for the unity and called upon them to maintain the togetherness.
She also thanked Kabale town people for the cooperation and for loving them saying that some of them joined in the cleaning.
