Rubanda – Rubanda woman MP hopeful Jacqueline Katabazi celebrated the 2022 Christmas day with five churches, donating 50 bags of cement and up to Ugx1m
Katabazi, a resident of Rurembo village, Butare Parish in Muko sub-county, donated 50 bags of cement and an unspecified amount of money to Kacerere Church of Uganda on Christmas day before visiting four other churches.
The chairperson construction committee Enock Lasimoni told Wallnetnews that they are constructing a new church building because the existing structure is overwhelmed by the annual increase in number of church members.
From Kacereere C.o.U, Katabazi paid a visit to St. Mark Kagyera C.o.U in Kacereere town council before proceeding to Kabaya C.o.U and Kabaya Catholic Church in Muko sub-county.
She climaxed her Christmas celebrations at Kitojo Catholic Church in Kacererere town council, where she left Ugx100,000 at each of the churches she visited, as thanksgiving offering.
At Kitojo Catholic Church, Katabazi who is the wife to Lt. Col. Emmy Katabazi, the deputy director general of the Internal Security Organisation (ISO), repeated her earlier statements of her ambition to contest again as Rubanda district woman MP, seeking to unseat incumbent Prossy Akampurira who beat her to the same seat six years ago.
“In 2016, I contested and lost to Hon. Akampurira, but I didn’t disrupt her democratically earned mandate, even though I still believed that I would have done better. However after 2026, I hope she would have accomplished all the plans she had for people of Rubanda district and I will again present myself for your support as the next woman MP Rubanda district,” Katabazi said.
The Kacereere C.o.U Archdeacon Ven. Johnson Mushabe, St. Mark Kagyera C.o.U Priest Rev. Justus Byomuhangi, Kitojo Catholic Church Priest Rev. Fr. Elineho Tibemanya, and other church leaders said a prayer of blessing Katabazi as she left the worship centers.
Meanwhile, Christians from Kacereere town council led by Ernest Rwamirengye and Justus Mujurizi who is a professional teacher, commended Katabazi for spending the entire Christmas day in the villages of Muko and Kacereere celebrating with locals.
“We expected madam Katabazi to be with her husband and children enjoying food and drinks in Kampala or at their home in Muko, but instead she chose to celebrate the day with us. We are so happy and grateful to God for this blessing,” Mujurizi said.
