Rubanda District Budget Shoots Up By Ugx14b

RUBANDA – Rubanda District Council on Friday  passed budget estimates for the District worth 45 billion shillings for the next financial year 2022/2023, with an increment of 14 billion shillings compared to the current financial year. 2021/2022.

While tabling the budget estimates before the council at Rubanda Rukiiko hall, Steven Ampeire Kasyaba, the Rubanda District Chairperson, said that the budget estimates increased from Ugx31b from the current financial year 2021/2022 to 45 billion shillings for the next financial year.

He said that the budget estimates increased because of lobbying by the district leadership led by the State Minister of Finance In-charge of General duties Henry Musasizi and his fellow legislators; the Rubanda West Member of Parliament Hon Kamuntu Moses Mwongyera and the Rubanda District Woman MP Prosy Akampurira.

Kasyaba said that Ugx34b will be sourced from program conditional central government transfers Ugx4b from other government transfers, Ugx4.3b  from discretionary government transfers, Ugx691.3m  from locally raised revenue and Ugx2b from external financing.

He added that the money priorities of the budget will help to construct structures at Muko-Kamugongo Health center which is to be elevated to a hospital status and construction of the district Rukiiko hall among others.

He further added that the next financial year’s budget will be implemented under the theme that says “Enhancing effective service delivery with emphasis on infrastructure development

While tabling the budget estimates before the council at Rubanda Rukiiko hall, Steven Ampeire Kasyaba, the Rubanda District Chairperson, said that the budget estimates increased from 31 billion shillings of financial year 2021/2022 to 45 billion shillings for the next financial year.

He said that the budget estimates increased because of lobbying by the district leadership led by the State Minister of Finance In-charge of General duties Henry Musasizi and his fellow legislators; the Rubanda West Member of Parliament Hon Kamuntu Moses Mwongyera and the Rubanda District Woman MP Prosy Akampurira.

Kasyaba said that 34 billion shillings will be sourced from program conditional central government transfers 4 billion shillings from other government transfers, 4.3 billion shillings from discretionary government transfers, 691,311,225 shillings from locally raised revenue and 2 billion shillings from external financing.

He added that the money priorities of the budget will help to construct structures at Muko-Kamugongo Health center which is to be elevated to a Hospital status and construction of the district Rukiiko hall among others. He added that the next financial year’s budget will be implemented under the theme: “Enhancing effective service delivery with emphasis on infrastructure development, Agriculture, Quality Education and Health for community transformation”.

Speaking during the council, the Rubanda West County Member of Parliament Hon Moses Kamuntu Mwongyera expressed the need for the district leadership to work around means of finding alternative revenue sources especially basing on the gift of its topography such as setting up a community hotel around the forests. He asked the district leadership to ensure proper accountability for the approved budget.
