Katikamu SDA girls all eyes on USSSA-Elite volleyball trophy in Jinja

With few days to the start of the Elite games, Only Seven schools will take part in the 2024 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) games for the volleyball sport in girls category.

These games will be hosted in Jinja city by two schools; Jinja secondary school and Jinja college school commencing January 24th to 27th 2024.

Volleyball is among the sports disciplines to be competed for in the USSSA-Elite games with others Football (Boys and Girls), Handball (Boys and Girls), Netball, Basketball 3×3 (Boys and Girls) and Basketball 5×5 (Boys and Girls).

The draws for the sporting disciplines will be done on Wednesday, January 24th 2024 at Jinja secondary school after all teams assemble.

The seven schools that will be fighting for honors; Katikamu SDA, Ngora High school, Amus College school -Bukedea, Mariam High school, Immaculate Heart Girls-Nyakibale, Bukedea Comprehensive school (BCS) and host Jinja secondary school.

But all eyes will be on Katikamu SDA the school that stole the show after winning the Uganda secondary schools trophies for both boys and girls in the finals watched by multitude of fans in Kabale in beach Volleyball nationals, where they finished 5th position in girls category and the only team to take a set off St. Elizabeth at quarter finals.

Speaking to wallnetnews after their morning training at Katikamu courts, the games teacher Epiat Denis said his girls are more than ready for this years competition and they now know were their strength lies.

“Let the Games start, this is like a curtain raiser and all teams want to prove but Katikamu we are going to show our readiness, by winning this year’s Elite trophy will be sending a signal to other schools to be prepared for Nationals,” said Epiat.

“This year USSSA-Elite is a strong tournament, all teams that have confirmed participation we shall not take them for a joke,” he added.

Meanwhile, It’s only Katikamu Secondary school -SDA and Nabisunsa that have been in volleyball longer than any other school and they have stood a test of time
