The Kabale district woman MP Atwakiire Catherine Ndamira has expressed concern over the high rate cases of boy children dropping out of school to join the boda boda industry.

Atwakiire made this remarks on Sunday while speaking as the guest of honour at the closure of a4-day Christ the King annual youth conference that was held at the Kabale municipality playground.

The legislator condemned youth who pressurize their parents to sell their land and buy them motorcycles to start commercial riding, adding that the boda boda industry has no profits due to the ratio of motorcycles to passengers.

She also expressed concern about parents who demoralize their children from studying and having academic qualifications, which can be useful when seeking employment in the future.

MP Atwakiire noted that due to the economic crisis, the majority of the population opt to foot than to board boda bodas, which she says leaves the riders at a great loss.

She also challenged the youth to go for national identity card registration, saying that the card has become a requirement to receive government and other services everywhere in the country.
