The Kabale municipality legislator Nicholas Thaddeus Kamara together with Rubanda district woman colleague Prossy Akampurira Mbabazi have joined efforts to condemn early marriages in Kigezi sub -region.
They revealed this on Saturday during a 4-day annual Christ the King parish youth conference which was held at Kabale Municipal playground, saying that early marriages have contributed to stillbirth among the married couples.

Addressing the youth at Kabale, the MP Kamara condemned early marriages in the Kigezi sub-region saying that it puts the girl-children at risk of having stillbirths, delivery of deformed children and also contributes to producing of many children in families despite the hard economic situation in the country.
“Keeping in school prevents you from producing many children,” Kamara told the youth.

He further reminded the youth about the presence of HIV/AIDS. He added that the patients face stigmatization despite them taking their medicine.
MP Akampurira expressed concern on youth harassing their parents in the Kigezi sub-region.

She added that she has on several occasions received reports from parents about children harassing them.
Akampurira rooted for discipline, respect, cleanliness among the youths if they are to be successful in the world saying that even if one is the best performer in class but without discipline, he or she will go nowhere in life.
She also expressed concern on how most of the youth are no longer respecting the elderly.
