The two Uganda reigning Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) Basketball boys and girls champions Buddo secondary school and St Mary’s secondary school – Kitende, are appealing to the government to come to their rescue as they prepare to represent Uganda at the Africa Schools Championships due in Morocco next month.
Schools, Buddo secondary sports patron, Moses Wodidi and St Mary’s secondary–Kitende sports patron Basketball Robert Kazibwe talking to wallnetnews website said it was an honor for their schools to be invited to such a high-level competition but they need financial support to travel to Morocco.
“For both Uganda representatives to prepare well they need support and that is why they are appealing to the Ministry of Education and Sports to help the boys and girls realize their dreams,” said Wodidi and Kazibwe.
“To come back as winners or champions at Africa schools competition, they have to prepare well and good preparations require funds. They need air tickets for the technical teams, accommodation, and kits. That is why they are appealing for funding to facilitate their needs.”
Buddo secondary school and St Mary’s secondary school –Kitende both are the USSSA -national and East Africa Basketball boys and girls champions.
They are requesting the government to allow them to train at the MTN –Lugogo Indoor arena in readiness for the Africa schools competition.
Both Schools Buddo and St Mary’s –Kitende sports patrons said they hope to come back as champions of Africa Schools as they did in the just concluded East Africa secondary schools games held in Arusha, Tanzania when they travel to Adgir in Morocco.
“We are requesting the Ministry of Education and Sports through the National council of sports to permit them to train in MTN – Lugogo Indoor Arena to enable our boys and girls to familiarize themselves with the indoor conditions because the competitions in Morocco will be held indoors,” they said.
