Body of unidentified man found decomposing in Kabale river

The police in Kabale district are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified male adult whose decomposing body was discovered floating on Rwabakazi stream in Butobere Cell Kabale municipality.

Elly Maate, the Kigezi regional police spokesperson told journalists that the Kabale district police commander SP Abel Ruganza received information about the decomposing body on 22rd January at around 4:40pm.

Maate added that a team of regional scene of crime officers (SOCO), homicide and fire brigade proceeded to the scene, retrieved the decomposing body to Kabale regional referral hospital mortuary for postmortem.

 Maate called upon anyone missing his/her dear one to visit the hospital mortuary so that it is identified and taken for a decent burial.

A case of suspected death by drowning has been registered at Kabale police station under the reference number SD REF 43/22/2023.
