AFCON U23 Qualifiers: Micho Summons 29 Players

he Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic has summoned the U23 men’s   provisional squad of twenty nine players to start preparations for the 2023 TotalEnergies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations has summoned the U23 men’s provisional squad of twenty nine players to start preparations for the 2023 TotalEnergies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations that will be hosted by Morocco.

Former SC Villa player, Kizito Mugweri Garvin who has just signed for Itihad FC of Egypt and former Vipers SC forward Basangwa Richard who signed recently for Wadi Degla of Egypt are among the other professional players summoned on squad alongside Kakooza Derrick of Valmiera FC based in Latvia, Musa Ramadhan of FC Cincinnati in USA, Byaruhanga Bobosi of Elite Falcons FC in UAE and Serwada Steven of New York Red Bull in USA.

Buddo secondary school goal keeper Atugonza Tony has also been included in the provisional squad.

The team mainly of Uganda U17 and U20 graduates will enter residential camp tomorrow (Wednesday) October 12th 2022 at the Cranes Paradise Hotel in Kisasi.

The same squad has also been lined up for the Uganda Cranes Regional Tour of Northern Uganda with the match to be played on Saturday, October 15th 2022 at Pece Stadium in Gulu city. The U23 team will face a Northern Region Select team.

Uganda  will be facing off with  west Africa nation Guinea in the first leg at Chamazi stadium, Dar es salam on Saturday, October 22nd before the return leg on October 29th 2022 at St Mary’s stadium-Kitende in the second round qualifiers.

1st leg Saturday October 22nd at 8pm (EAT)

Venue: Chamazi Stadium, Dar as Salaam-Tanzania

2nd leg October 29th at St. Mary’s Kitende Stadium.
