
25 Women Graduate in Textile Design, Fashion at UIRI

A total of 25 women from Rukiga District on Saturday last week graduated in textile design and fashion at Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI). The beneficiaries were selected in January this year by the Rukiga District Woman MP, Kamusiime Caroline Muhwezi, from all the four sub-counties of; Kamwezi, Rwamucucu, Kashambya, Bukinda and the others were from two town councils of Mparo and Muhanga. While interacting with WallnetNews after the graduation, the beneficiaries who included; Christine Gumoshabe, Melina Akanyijuka and Merab Tumushabe thanked Kamusiime, for securing a-three month training for them. They added that they are going to use the skills attained to develop their families and entire District. The Executive Director of Uganda Industrial Research Institute, Prof. Charles Kwesiga, thanked the legislator for having a heart to empower women with skills. Kwesiga called upon the graduates to use the skills attained and set up fashion and design outlets and work towards obtaining tenders. He advised them to use the skills attained to change their wellbeing. Rukiga District woman MP, Kamusiime said the milestone fits well into her women empowerment program for the people of Rukiga. Kamusiime added that she is ready to organize the 25 women and make sure they become the shining light in their communities.
