St Noa, Kawempe Win Buganda Schools Sports Titles

The 2022 edition of the Buganda Schools Sports activities came to climax on Saturday at Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku.

Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga, Kawempe Muslim Secondary School, Kampala Grammar Junior School, St Noa Girls Zzana and St Gemma primary school are the many schools returned home with trophies after an epic day.

At Wankulukuku, there were two sports disciplines that had finals, on Saturday, football and Netball with Uganda Martyrs High School continued to create rival between them and Kawempe Muslim when they beat them 4-1 via spot kicks following a one all draw in normal time of the girls football final to lift their maiden Buganda Cup title and the school‘s Head master, Brother Leonard Nsubuga could not hide his excitement.

“We thank Kabaka for putting such sports activities for students, I am happy that we managed to win this title, we have been taking part in Buganda sports activities, today has been our day, I thank God and tonight it’s going be party after party,” said Nsubuga.

However, Kawempe Muslim couldn’t afford to lose both trophies on the day, in the boys category, they managed to beat St Andrews via penalties by 5-4, following a one all draw, wasteful St Andrews scored in first half through, Travis Mutyaba and Kawempe leveled in last minutes of second stanza through skipper Asaph Ssegujja.

Still in football, senior one, senior two trophy was won by St Janan Bombo beating Royal Giants Mityana 2-0, U16 was won by New ABC Divine after hammering Seeta Junior by 4-0, that of U14 was won by Kampala Grammar, bear Seeta Junior 4-0.

Meanwhile, in Netball, the senior category was won by St Noa Girls, the Zzana based side beating Mumusa by one, after a 16-15 final score of an epic final at Wankulukuku.

St James Primary from Nkumba beat Heritage of St Stephen Masaka by 18-17 to lift the 2022 Nabagereka Cup for U16, while St Gemma from Kabwoko Masaka beat renown Netball giants Archbishop Lwanga Primary school Nakirebe 17-12 to win their maiden U14 Nabagereka cup.

Basketball

Boys (Secondary): St Janan Bombo.

Girls (Secondary): St Noa Girls.

Netball

Nabagereka cup U14: St Gemma Primary School.

Nabagereka Cup U16: St James Nkumba.

Secondary School: St Noa Girls

Football:

Kabaka Cup U14: Kampala Grammar PS

Kabaka Cup U16: New ABC Divine Mutundwe

S.1 and S.2: St Janan Bombo

Buganda Cup girls: Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga.

Buganda Cup boys: Kawempe Muslim SS.
