Martin Kiiza ED NCA Calls for Investigations into Salama School Fire

The National Children Authority executive officer Martin Kiiza has asked relevant authorities to carry out immediate investigations under which 11 children were left dead after fire gutted a dormitory at the Salama School for the blind in Mukono.

According to police report, the fire outbreak happened at 1am at Salama school for the blind in Luga Village, Ntanzi parish, Ntejeru Kisoga town council in Mukono district.

police said that the cause of the fire is currently unknown but so far 11 deaths as a result of the fire have been confirmed while six are in critical condition and admitted at Herona Hospital in Kisoga.

The National Children Authority executive officer Martin Kiiza said that it is a great shock and sad for a nation to lose 11 children in the fire that broke out at Salama school for the blind today morning in Mukono and asked for immediate investigation into the matter. He sympathized with the families of the bereaved.

The National Children Authority executive officer Martin Kiiza further urges schools across the country to make sure that early detection measures are in place to mitigate such occurances and calamities in schools.
