KCCA ED Assures Owino Market Vendors On Renovation

Kampala Capital City Authority Executive Director Ms. Dorothy Kisaka, has assured the vendors of St. Balikuddembe Owino Market  that by end of 2022, the face of the market will have changed for the better after renovation.

Ms. Kisaka  made these remarks while officiating as the chief guest of Sevo Cup launch at Owino market on Wednesday this week.

Addressing the gathering, the Executive Director, reminded the vendors that it’s now two years since her appointment and one of the pertinent issues she found in the office was a directive by President Museveni to return all markets into the hands of government / KCCA. “If you could remember how we came here explaining to you while trying to execute the President’s directive,” she reminded them.

Ms. Kisaka added that as of now, St. Balikuddembe market is one of the KCCA’s markets whose 8 acres of land titles are in the names of government.

She further assured them, that as KCCA they organising and they are going to prepare all vendors how they will work with government. She thanked the current leadership which has managed the market with good governance structure.

“For anything to be achieved there must leadership, I want to thank Ms. Suzan Kushaba for the harmony and streamlining leadership,” she added.

Kisaka also informed the vendors that as KCCA leaders, they are technical people and they follow Presidents vision and execute because the he is a visionary leader. “We are coming back to renovate the market with security lights and paving the  whole market ground to look nice and also streamline your commutation system that will ease your mobilisation,” Kisaka added.

She also explained that they already have development partners and very soon everything will have changed. She thanked the President and the government for his vast vision of thinking about low income earners.

Concerning  the Sevo Cup, Kisaka thanked Team chairman MK project for the partnership and supporting the talents of young people. She assured all participating teams the full support from KCCA with pitches, referees and other necessary support that will bee needed because in any competition,  there should be a genuine winner.

Team Chairman MK project, Mr. Toyota Michael Kaguta officiated the launch and the project as the official sponsors of the Cup also used the event to re-echo the message of their message from their brand MK and the commander of Land forces Lt.Gen. Muhoozi Kinerugaba, for his love and support of youth in music and sports.

“I want to support and promote talent and entertainment. During the thank you ceremony by our generational leader Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba at Entebbe cricket grounds on 7th May 2022, our generational leader showed his commitment to promoting talents and entertainment,” Toyota said.

Toyota also encouraged the the young people to participate in government programs and assured them government’s committment to continued support for social economic transformation.  Team Chairman also supported the 18 participating teams with  playing jersies and 72 footballs.

Ms. Suzan Kushaba, the chief organiser, thanked the President for returning the market into hands of government/KCCA and appreciated KCCA -ED for her tireless efforts in executing president’s vision. She explained that Sevo Cup is not only for fan but to appreciate the President. The winners of SEVO CUP will be awarded with a brand new bus for men’s football, and the women a brand-new coaster for netball.

These buses were promised by the President and it said that he will be the one to hand them  over to the winners.
